LEGAL BACKGROUND

Jason is a trial lawyer with almost two decades of experience in high-stakes patent litigation.  His work has led to 9- and 10-figure jury verdicts for plaintiffs and walk-away settlements and take-nothing verdicts for defendants.  Most recently, he and his teams obtained limited exclusion and cease-and-desist orders in an ITC Investigation and summary judgment of no willful infringement and a favorable settlement in the Western District of Texas.

As the grandson of an auto mechanic, Jason inherited an affinity for understanding and explaining how things work.  Technology has come a long way since the cars of the 1950s, and Jason has litigated everything from semiconductors to wireless technologies, audio codecs, computer security software, medical devices, streaming media, cable modems, internet routers, branded pharmaceuticals, and internet-connected garage-door openers.

Prior to joining Blue Peak Law Group, Jason was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and counsel at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP.  Jason’s pro bono practice includes a Ninth Circuit appeal of a removal order which he briefed, argued, and won (before an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court in a related case and an ongoing remand to the Ninth Circuit) and previously included work with the Redondo Beach City Prosecutor’s Office and the Tennessee Justice Center.
